WMS

WMS  (stands for: Warehouse Management System) – a software for managing the flow of goods in a warehouse. The WMS is often an integral part of the ERP system, sometimes it is a separate tool to support its operation. If the WMS is a supporting tool, it is necessary to ensure efficient data exchange between the software. This exchange most often takes place through an API. In order to ensure efficient operation, it is also necessary to bundle the WMS with external devices used in warehouse work, so that the user can communicate with the system in a way that facilitates work. Usually for this purpose, mobile devices like scanners (data readers/collectors), recording devices from RFID tags, barcode scanning or QR code are used. The main task of a WMS is to optimize warehouse operations (recording and monitoring all warehouse events from goods receipt, storage, picking, verification and finally release. WMS allows minimizing the time customers have to wait for their orders to be processed. Most often, systems of this type are used in high-storage warehouses and logistics centers, and wherever it is necessary to have better control over inventory, simpler identification of stored goods, shorten order picking time and reduce the number of mistakes, as well as automate inventory processes or reduce storage costs.
