Heatmap – a data analysis tool that graphically represents how visitors to a site behave. The tool is most often based on a color spectrum called warm-to-cool – cold colors denote the areas of the page that users paid the least attention to, warm colors denote those areas that attracted the most attention. Heatmap allows you to determine which headlines get the most attention and generate the most clicks, what types of images and graphics perform best, what draws users’ attention away from the main content, whether the page is clear and readable to the viewer, whether, for example, the user sees a form to sign up for a newsletter. Additionally, the heatmap allows you to verify that the site’s navigation works properly, that viewers have no problem finding the right options and that they read the content on the site, if so, to what extent.
