POP-UP – open windows that appear on a website, containing a specific message. They can be used to, inter alia, present a request for approval of the site’s privacy policy and terms of use, a request to accept cookies, confirmation of the user’s age if the site contains adult content. However, a pop-up can also be typically marketing in nature and serve to attract leads, inform about loyalty and conversion rate-enhancing actions (information about discounts, promotions, time sales), as a CTA – encouraging the user to go to a specific subpage, to download an ebook, sign up for a newsletter, etc. There are several basic types of pop-ups: welcome mat – darkening the page (this type of format should not hide the entire content of the page, as this can have a negative impact on SEO value, making it difficult to access the content on the page), overlay – these are pop-ups that display in the middle of the screen, above the content. Another format is top banners that appear above the content. Characteristic of them is their small size, so they do not interfere with the comfort of browsing the content of the site. There are also pop-ups shaped like slide-in boxes – these formats emerge from the side or bottom of the page, remaining aside from the main content.
